College/Career:

Mr. Michael Patterson is a fourth degree black belt who makes the trip from the Boulder, CO area in order to teach and train at Lakewood.

The korean phrase on his belt means “Flying Side Kick”, and he’s known for having pictures of him performing jump/flying side kicks with famous locations as his background.

Through seminars and personal experience, Mr. Patterson is an XMA weapons world-class competitor and teacher. He has placed second in both weapons and open-hand XMA in the competition for world champion. His favorite weapon is the Gum Do (AKA sword or XMA Katana), and is excited to teach others.

Mr. Patterson is a Software Engineer, and has worked at many well-known companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Google. His software engineering career has spanned almost three decades.
